Tenement life in the 1930s is difficult, and Mama is homesick for the sunny skies of her native Italy. Her family tries everything to cheer her up, from hand stands and jokes to a trip to Coney Island, but nothing works until, at Coney Island, her daughter wins a packet of seeds which turns out to hold a treasure. Inspired by a real event that took place at 47 Orchard Street on New York's Lower East Side.
