It is the perspective of Patrick, a man in his thirties asking himself "what am I chasing?" Caught in the spiral of overconsumption, Patrick does nothing with his own happiness in mind. He solely wishes others to envy what he has, but life soon catches up to him and reminds him he has become something other than what he wanted.
