Bearer of a million dreams : the biography of the Statue of Liberty
The history of the Statue of Liberty, told through the efforts of the people who created it: Auguste Bertholdi, the artist; Gustav Eiffel, the engineer; Joseph Pulitzer, the journalist who rallied public support; Richard Morris Hunt, designer of the statue's pedestal; and poet Emma Lazarus, whose compelling poem, "The New Colossus," was cast onto a bronze plaque and mounted inside the pedestal's lower level.
