Set during the tuberculosis epidemic in the Canadian arctic during the 1950s, follows an Inuit to a sanatorium in Quebec City. There, thrust into an alien world and unable to speak the language, he becomes despondent. His introduction to a sick young boy who speaks both languages and knows both cultures begins his recovery.
