The Art of Dying Well is a reprint of Live Well, Die Holy : the Art of Being a Saint, Now and Forever (Sophia Institute Press, 1998). This book was written in Latin and first published in Rome in 1620 under the tite: De arte bene moriendi. English translations published in 1622 by the Society of Jesus, in 1720 by I. Dalton in London, and in 1847 by Richardson and Son in London. The 1998 edition by Sophia contains only book 1 of the original work, with the exception of chapter 17 which is taken from book 2 and is based on the 1847 translation by rev. John Dalton, with extensive editorial revisions and improvements in the translation. This 2021 edition also includes a new introduction
