In 1983, Joni Mitchell set out on what was then the longest tour of her career with her new husband, rock bassist Larry Klein, and their band. When the tour was over she made a film version of it. Intercutting in-studio performances with home movies and iconic film clips, Refuge of the roads offers an intimate look at a joyful time in the life of an elusive artist.
