The Old West : day by day

Book 1995

The Old West: Day by Day is a unique historical reference that chronicles the peak years of westward expansion, from the first discovery of gold in California in 1848 to the massacre at Wounded Knee in 1890. During these years, Americans drove westward, spurred in part by their faith in "manifest destiny," the belief that the United States was destined to expand across the continent - even if that meant Indian loss of life and land.
