The return of Mr. Budd
Near Avernley in Berkshire, Superintendent Budd of Scotland Yard is relaxing on holiday at the cottage of his friend, Jacob Mutch. However, Mr. Budd becomes involved in an investigation. He learns from Jacob's neighbour that his cottage has been burgled--twice. Yet nothing was taken. Then the man is found in his cottage brutally murdered. And the following day, the body of a known criminal is found dead nearby, shot through the head.
