Following your heart
Susan Hostetler returns to her Amish community with her English friend, Teresa, who hopes to settle there with her newborn, fatherless son. But Deacon Ray forbids the unwed mother from attending church services. Susan's estranged boyfriend, Thomas Stoll, in hopes of winning her back, convinces an old bachelor to propose to Teresa and adopt her child after the marriage. Deacon Ray agrees to the idea, but Susan is outraged at the turn of events.
