Con man Latigo Smith persuades a local reprobate to impersonate gunman Swifty Morgan, whom mining baron Taylor Barton plans to hire to eliminate his competition. Smith plans to head for the hills with his ill-gotten cash before the arrival of the real gunman, until he falls for Barton's daughter Patience.
